Limited Edition Tom of Finland Jacket From Kalup
We are extremely happy that we can offer a design by an artist we highly respect. Touko Laaksonen, better known as Tom of Finland, was an artist that created a unique and new fetish world. In cooperation with the Tom of Finland Foundation we are able to put his art where it belongs – on a leather jacket.
About Tom of Finland Foundation
In the opinion of most scholars, Tom was the foremost gay male erotic artist of the 20th century – his images had a tremendous influence on emerging notions of human sexuality in general, and masculinity in particular, in the years following World War II.
The trustee of The Judith Rothschild Foundation, Harvey S. Shipley Miller, said, “Tom of Finland is one of the five most influential artists of the 20th century. As an artist he was superb, as an influence he was transcendent.”
The original purpose of the Foundation was to preserve and document Tom’s work for future generations. Within a few years, however, the rampant spread of AIDS had brought about the death of many erotic artists and the consequent destruction of their work by uncaring or vengeful heirs. Heeding the pleas of desperate artists, the Foundation expanded its mission to include preserving, protecting, and promoting all erotic art.
A spirit force is the best way we can describe what rises up inside of us who manage his Foundation. It pushes us forward, assisting us with emergent erotic artists through programs that foster confidence, validation and recognition. Every artist carries Tom’s legacy as they explore, chronicle and enchant, never diminishing their own insight into the future.
Tom of Finland Foundation, a 501(c)(3), nonprofit, tax-exempt organization, was created in 1984 by Touko Laaksonen, aka Tom of Finland (1920-1991), and Durk Dehner, Foundation President.
